Nissan 240SX Used Car Review
The
Nissan 240SX was one of the sportiest
"not quite a sports car" cars on
the market for many years.
Well
appointed, stylish, sporty, and nimble, it was loved around the world
for its
real world driveability, handling, reasonable sticker price,
and Nissan build quality.
While the Nissan 240SX was sporty
looking, well appointed, and
handled really well (thanks to Macpherson struts up front, multi-link
rear
suspension, rear wheel drive, and relatively light weight) it was
generally
considered too underpowered to classify as a true sports car.
Fortunately, what the Nissan 240SX lacks in raw power it more than makes up for in real world practicality and driveability.
This is a
car that begs to be taken on long drives up the coast, that doesn’t
mind the
occasional pedal to the metal moment, and that loves a few good turns.
The relatively low horsepower 2.4liter I4 engine was one of Nissan’s most reliable and dependable four cylinder engines.
This isn't
something that usually attracts sports car buyers however, but that's
good news
for those in the market for a good used car: used Nissan 240SX's with
plenty of
life left in them are widely available and at decent prices.
A good used Nissan 240SX is
undoubtedly a great car to drive and own,
and even though it’s not super cheap or super exciting, most owners
love them
and say only good things.
With the Nissan 240SX you get a fair
amount of car for your used
car dollar, and if you can get past the lack of raw power, it is a
wonderful
used car bargain. Like a fine cigar, the Nissan 240SX is best
appreciated
slowly--and savoured.
