Renowned for its reliability, performance, build quality, and potential, the Civic is the ideal student car, the ideal commuter car, the ideal everyman car and somehow the ideal import tuner's car. And it's all this and more.

Honda Civics hold their value extremely well--some would say too well. They're not cheap to begin with, and they just don't seem to depreciate like other cars. Even with high mileage and minor accident damage, people will often pay top dollar for good used Civics.

From the original and extra-peppy Civic Si models to the recent SiR's, the Honda Civic has never lacked get-up-and-go. Recent engines benefited from Honda's V-TEC variable valve timing, and all engines produce good HP and torque numbers for their class and size.

On top of this, they are extremely fuel efficient. For these reasons and more, used Honda Civics make ideal used cars. If there is one critique, it is that like most Honda's, the Civics are almost so good they're vanilla.

They were so well designed and built that, much like the firm's motorcycles, they lacked a certain character--no 'soul' some would say. This isn’t a fault or course, but it is a fact to consider for many who like their used cars to have a little soul, as well as being practical and reliable.

Yes, the Honda Civic is a legend. A fantastic all-around great car for the class: refined, fun to drive, and with plenty of performance potential. But unlike other used cars, you'll pay significantly more for the privilege of driving one.

In most used car markets, Honda Civics are sought after, more so today than perhaps ever before as the lure of fuel efficiency and reliability tends to drive up used Honda prices.

But, as they saying goes, used car legends don’t always come cheap but usually, they're worth it.
